Product tested - Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0, Nov 9, 2007

These instructions are for Kaspersky 7.0. Instructions are also available for Kaspersky 6.0.

If you have a Kaspersky 7.0 product, and hotComm is online but the relays stay red or you can't connect to a room, then please follow the steps for Kaspersky Internet Security below.

You must re-configure Kaspersky after upgrading your copy of hotComm. See Reconfigure Kaspersky.

Note: by itself, Kaspersky Anti-Virus does not prevent the connection. However, it can be difficult to tell whether you have Kaspersky Internet Security (which includes Kaspersky Anti-Virus) or just Kaspersky Anti-Virus. So, if you have any Kaspersky product, follow the steps for Kaspersky Internet Security below.

For more information about Kaspersky, see www.kaspersky.com.

Notes and Comments

Can't connect

1-Set anti hacker to training mode.
2-Launch [your program]
3-Popup appears, choose "any activity" for [your program].
4-Switch anti hacker back to low mode.

Pause my protection
7/27/07 - from a customer:
" All I do is "pause my protection" before I enter the password for the Hotcomm room...and once I am in, I just turn it back on and I am fine."

Norton Internet Security note
If you have previously installed Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall, hotComm may be unable to connect until you completely remove the remnants of the Norton software that are left behind by the Norton uninstall, even if you configure Kaspersky correctly. Symantec Corporation provides a Norton Removal Tool to remove remnants of prior installations. See the Norton Removal Tool article at the Symantec website.
