hotScript
hotScript is a way of identiying postings from selected people. You can get an audio alert they post. Their posts go into a separate transcript panel as well as into the room transcript. Their nicknames appear in Red.
Selecting people
Action |
Description |
Add | Right-click their name in the Invited List and select Add to hotScript. You can identify these people, because their names appear in red in the invited List.

Remove |
Right-click their name and select Remove from hotScript.

hotScript Panel
To see the hotScript, click View and check hotScript Panel. The hotScript opens as a separate panel. You can undock and move it.
Right-click in the Panel to see a menu of options:

Copies the contents. You can paste the hotScript text into another document. |

Erases the contents. |

Prints to a printer. |

Saves the HOTSCRIPT.TXT file. |
hotScript Sound Events
You can assign a sound of your choice to the hotComm Incoming hotScript Message event in your Windows Sound Events list. This sound plays whenever anyone in your hotScript list posts a message.
How to change a sound in Windows XP:
- Open your Windows Start menu.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select Sounds and Audio Devices (this may be called Sounds and MultiMedia).
- Select the Sounds tab.
- Look in Program Events for hotComm.
- Highlight a sound event.
- To disable it, select None in the Sounds drop-down list. To change it, select a different sound from the Sounds drop-down list, or click Browse to find a different sound.
- Click OK.
How to change a sound in Windows Vista:
- Open your Windows Start menu.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select Sound or select Hardware and Sound and then Sound .
- Select the Sounds tab.
- Look in the Program list for hotComm.
- Highlight a sound event.
- To disable it, select (None) in the Sounds drop-down list. To change it, select a different sound from the Sounds drop-down list, or click Browse to find a different sound.
- Click OK.
hotScript files
The hotScript Panel transcript is stored as a text file named HOTSCRIPT.TXT in your hotComm /USR folder. You can edit this file if you wish.
The list of selected names is stored in HCFrame.HCD in your hotComm /USR folder. HCFrame.HCD is a "ini" file that contains many of your hotComm settings. Please do not edit this file without assistance from hotComm Support.
