Private Session
If you and another person are in the same main room, you may be able to intiate a private session with the other person. You both stay connected to the main room, but you also open a second session with just the two of you.
To open a private session:
- To initiate a private session with someone, right-click the person's name in the Invited List and select Private Session.
- The invited person sees a pop-up window asking them to accept the invitation. They accept, and join the session.
If you are initiating the session and you are using hotComm Standard/Pro, you can then add other people to the same private session. Right-click the next person's name and select Private Session, then do the same for each person you want to add.
Note about Private Sessions:
-
You can only be in one private session at a time.
- hotComm CL user-level people cannot initate private sessions. However, the user can send a private message to a presenter or moderator, who can then invite the user to a private session.
A hotComm CL moderator or presenter can initiate a private session with one individual.
hotComm Lite users cannot initiate private sessions.
A hotComm Standard/Pro user or moderator can initiate a private session with one individual and then invite other individuals to that session.
-
The connectivity in a private session is different than that in a main room, and the success of multi-media features in the private session depends more on the individual's equipment, bandwidth, etc. than in the main room. Be prepared for individual variations.
-
Although we do not disable features in the private session, private sessions were designed for quick conferences, not as secondary presentation rooms, and not all features are supported.
-
The microphone setting for a private session is Push-to-talk.
Open mic ability can be enabled for private sessions from a room; there is charge for this, so if you are interested in this, please see your hotComm Account Manager.
