Audio is described in these topics:
HiFi Audio (WAVeMix)
If the room has been configured to support HiFi quality audio, you can play music into the room with higher quality than is needed for normal speaking.
Pre-requisite: The room on the server must be configured for a maximum quality of 5 or higher. Please contact your account representative regarding this option.
To play HiFi audio in a hotComm room:
- Set your hotComm controls
Setting |
Select this ... |
Source |
For Source, select WAVemix. |
Quality |
Set Quality to 5, 6, or 7. Note that the actual Quality level is determined automatically by the maximum quality set in the room profile on the server, and by the lowest quality setting of anyone who has their mic turned on.
|
- Set audio controls
-
Click Audio Record Controls.
- In the Recording Control window, in the Wave Out Mix or Stereo Out Mix column, check the Select box.
If you do not have an Out Mix column, select Properties (or Options and then Properties) and check the appropriate Out Mix option.
- Close the Recording Control window.
- In the VoIP Setting window, click Apply and then Ok. We recommend that you close hotComm, wait 20 seconds, and restart it, but that may not be necessary.
- Start the music on your computer. When you want to start playing it into the room, left-click your hotComm mic icon.
Notes
- HiFi audio (WAVeMix) is not included in recordings.
When the presenter has their mic on in HiFi mode while you are trying to record,
you see a message telling you that the audio portion of the recording is disabled. HiFi mode means that the person has WAVeMix selected as the Source.
When HiFi mode is turned off, the message is closed and regular audio recording resumes automatically. You can click OK to close the message.
- Bandwidth.
HiFi audio uses significantly more bandwidth than Voice-quality audio. Although you can speak through your mic event when your VoIP is configured for HiFi, it makes it more difficult for participants. Therefore, we recommend that you use Voice-quality audio when speaking.
- Playing music before an event
If you are planning to play HiFi music at the beginning of an event while participants are joining the room, we recommend that the music is played by someone who is not planning to speak at the event. This allows the speakers to configure their VoIP settings in advance for optimal Voice-quality audio (see Microphone) without worrying about changing settings from HiFI music to Voice.
You can play HiFi audio through hotComm Standard/Pro, hotComm Lite or hotComm CL. However, if you use hotComm CL, log in with a CL Presenter or CL Moderator password to avoid the automatic CL Guest microphone time limit.
