Windows Sound Events

You are notified with sounds when several events occur. You can change the sounds through your Windows Control Panel.

The events and sounds are:

Active hotCam cameraclick.wav A camera shot is taken. * * *
Active hotWeb hotweb.wav The hotWeb window comes into focus. * * *
Incoming hotScript Message none Anyone in your hotScript list posts a message. The same sound is used for all people in your hotScript list. + + +
Incoming PM incomingpm.wav Someone sends you a private message. * * *
New Message none Someone posts a message in the transcript. + + +
Raise Hand raisehand.wav Someone clicks the Raise Hand icon. * * *
Connection events
Incoming Call incoming.wav (1) Someone invites you to a Private Session from the Invited List in a room. * * *
(2) Someone requests to join your p2p session. *    
Joining Peer newpeer.wav Someone joins a room. Applies to moderators only.
In Standard/Pro, you can turn the Joining and Leaving Peer sounds on and off: click Options, then Mode/Identity, and check or uncheck Alert In/Out. In CL, select Preferences, then Alert In/Out.

Leaving Peer disconnect.wav Someone disconnects from a room. *   +
Online Alert online.wav A user for whom you set the Alert me when available option connects to the 1stWorks Network. Applies to hotComm Standard/Pro only. The user must be in your All Users list. *    
Call Group Manager events
Call Group Queue incoming.wav Someone joins the Call Group Manager queue. *    
Incoming Support incoming.wav A call is being transferred from the Call Group Manager queue to a Service Agent. *

* Event is installed with an assigned sound (enabled).
+ Event is installed but the assigned sound is <None>.
+ Available with Plus feature set. Event is installed but the assigned sound is <None>.
(blank) Event is not available for this client.


Note: hotComm software updates do not change your setting for existing hotComm sound events.



How to change a sound

To change a sound in Windows XP:

  1. Open your Windows Start menu.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Select Sounds and Audio Devices (this may be called Sounds and MultiMedia).
  4. Select the Sounds tab.
  5. Look in Program Events for hotComm.
  6. Highlight a sound event.
  7. To disable it, select None in the Sounds drop-down list. To change it, select a different sound from the Sounds drop-down list, or click Browse to find a different sound.
  8. Click OK.


To change a sound in Windows Vista:

  1. Open your Windows Start menu.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Select Sound or select Hardware and Sound and then Sound .
  4. Select the Sounds tab.
  5. Look in the Program list for hotComm.
  6. Highlight a sound event.
  7. To disable it, select (None) in the Sounds drop-down list. To change it, select a different sound from the Sounds drop-down list, or click Browse to find a different sound.
  8. Click OK.





Sound file locations

The sound files shipped with your hotComm product are located in these folders:
